What to Expect and Tips for New Dancers

Do you have a first time dancer or a returning dancer that is nervous about starting a new year?
Be assured that our teachers and staff will embrace your child in a warm, loving environment. We only have the best intentions for your child and want to see EVERY dancer have a wonderful experience in their dance class. 

Parents/Legal Guardians can help achieve this: 

• Please help your dancer be on time to all classes 
• Make sure they are wearing proper dance attire, shoes, and hair (see Dress Code) 
• Please have your child have a dance bag and please put name on EVERYTHING - especially shoes.
• Pack your child's dance bag with their extra attire, hair ties, dance shoes, water bottle, show and tell (creative movement and combo 1 and 2), etc. We will not supply hair ties
• Please put dance shoes on in waiting room before entering the classroom
• Please do not enter classroom if door is closed or you have not been invited in by teacher.
• ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS have your dancer use the restroom before class, especially the little ones

Tips For Parents/Legal Guardians:

• Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns
• Visit our website and Facebook for important announcements and updates. 
• Read our sent emails as they contain important information about your child's class, reminders or any other important BDS related info. 
• Read our student “Code of Conduct” and help your dancer understand and follow it (see Code of Conduct). 
• Parent Visitation: There will be a parent visitation week scheduled twice a year, which is noted on the Important Dates section in the handbook, in the document section in your customer portal, and via email. Parents are not allowed to sit in on classes, except during visitation week. 

For Our Tiny Dancers
Creative Movement, Combo 1, & Combo 2
Creative Movement:

• Have child come already dressed in dance outfit (unless you have to change there- that is fine too), please have dance bag with ballet shoes and their show and tell in dance bag. 
• Please put their ballet shoes on in waiting room before class and wait to be called in by the teacher. 
• No water or food (we want to limit bathroom breaks and spills- thank you)
• No underwear (tights are underwear- unless still having accidents, etc.)
• Name on everything
• Please use potty BEFORE class 
• If they have to go potty we will send them out to you.

 Combo 1, & Combo 2:

• Have child come already dressed in dance outfit (unless you have to change there- that is fine too), please have dance bag with ballet shoes, tap shoes, and their show and tell in dance bag. 
• Please put their tap shoes on in waiting room before class and wait to be called in by the teacher. 
• Your child will then come in ready to go, with tap shoes on their feet, their dance bag in hand, which will have their ballet shoes (with name on them), and their show and tell. 
• No water or food (we want to limit bathroom breaks and spills- thank you)
• No underwear (tights are underwear- unless still having accidents, etc.)
• Name on everything
• Please use potty BEFORE class 
• If they have to go potty we will send them out to you.
• We will help them with their ballet shoes during show and tell time during class.
